Gynecology

Gynecology is a medical specialty concentrated on general female healthcare, with a focus on the female reproductive organs.

At Women's Care of Wisconsin, we specialize in all areas of women's health and we are committed to providing quality gynecology services according to what you need.

Whether it's your first gynecology appointment or your 10th, we understand it can be nerve-wracking and uncomfortable. The providers at Women's Care realize this and do their best to make you feel at ease. They will explain every part of the exam in detail and encourage you to ask questions. Although it sounds awkward, this is a time for you and your provider to get to know one another, to talk about your health, your lifestyle, and any concerns you may have. Our hope is that you leave our office feeling better and a part of our clinic family. We look forward to a long, healthy relationship with you!

When should you have your first gynecologic visit? According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), girls should have their first gynecologic visit between 13 and 15 years of age.

Routine Exams
Although you may not need a Pap test every year, it is important to continue having yearly pelvic exams. Annual wellness or pelvic exams can help find problems early or prevent health problems before they occur. If problems are found early, they may be easier to treat and less likely to pose serious risks to your health. Preventive care includes the following:

  • Discussion of health topics relevant to your age and risk factors
  • Exams and screening tests
  • Immunizations
