We scheduled a call with Tristan, and she was ready.
‘Mom’s here watching the girls, so I’m good to go. There's no way I could sit and talk on the phone while trying to juggle all three of them,’ she said.
We didn’t believe her for a minute.
We asked Tristan to go into some detail after we read a comment she posted on Facebook for our Summer Contest*, which she won in a random drawing. The comment touched on the mileage her provider put on the day she delivered Tristan’s third daughter, Emery.
Yes, we had to know more.
This is Tristan’s Story:
I met Dr. Swift back in 2020 when my previous provider wasn’t available at the time. I had no idea who she was and knew nothing about her. But she had some openings, so I went with her.
It was at the height of Covid, with the masks and the social distancing, and nobody could have appointments. Just a lot of stuff thrown at you. It was my first time being pregnant, so I would have been nervous without the pandemic, but with everything going on it just ratcheted up the tension.
When I first met her, she put me at ease right away. Dr. Swift has that personality about her, where she's so funny, but she tells you how it is without making you feel stressed or scared. So immediately there was this sense that everything was going to be okay.
By the time my baby was born, my husband was allowed to be there. And everything went great. That was true for the second and third deliveries as well.
My situation is a little bit unique in the fact that all three of my girls were preemies, so Dr. Swift took every single precaution necessary to keep not only me safe and healthy, but all three of my girls, and she did everything possible to keep all of them out of the NICU: extra ultrasounds, measurements, appointments, extra shots I needed for lung development. I mean everything.
With my third, and this was the comment I made about Dr. Swift for your contest, we were already expecting an early delivery (Emery was born at 35 weeks plus 2 days), and I had a question for Dr. Swift, a provider who served multiple Women’s Care locations.
‘What happens if I go into labor and you’re not here?’
Her answer was classic Swift.
‘We’ll deal with that if it happens,’ she said.
I loved that. Why stress about something that might not happen anyway?
But of course, that’s exactly what happened. I go into labor on a morning when she’s working in Waupaca, and I’m in Neenah.
And I’m sure the on-call OB would have been great, but this was my third time doing this. I wanted Dr. Swift to deliver my baby! So I’m going through the whole process that morning, getting checked in and hooked up, and they contact Swift. She’s like, ‘We're just going to keep an eye on things,’ because I wasn't in active labor and was just progressing towards it. But not having Swift there made me anxious, which is not ideal for any expectant mom.
Later that morning, one of the nurses said, ‘Dr. Swift's gonna come check on you.’
I’m like, ‘What do you mean?’
‘Oh, she's coming back on her lunch break to check on you.’
Sure enough, around noon, here comes Dr. Swift. I was really hoping to deliver at this point, but of course my baby was taking its sweet time.
‘Well, I’ll head back to Waupaca now and come see you later. Hopefully we'll be delivering a baby!’
So Dr. Swift goes back to Waupaca to finish out the rest of her day, and then at 5 o’clock, there she is, back in Neenah!
And a half hour later, she delivers my baby!
Yep, just another day at work for Dr. Swift.
Oh, and she came back to check on me the next day.
Now, I'm on a couple different mom groups on Facebook, and a lot of moms ask for OB/GYN recommendations, and every single time I say hands down, 100% Dr. Swift. She doesn't sugarcoat anything, but she doesn't make you scared even if you're in a scary situation. All of my pregnancies have been high risk, and I’ve had anxiety with all of them, yet she always tells me how it is without making me fearful. That’s so important.
And she did drive back to Neenah just for me:)
