| As a courtesy to our patients, we provide the following list of classes provided by ThedaCare. If you have questions, or would like to register for a class, please contact ThedaCare at the number listed below. To Register for Classes: Register online at www.thedacare.org or call ThedaCare on Call at (920) 830-6877 or (800) 236-2236 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday Childbirth Preparation Classes Expectant parents learn about pregnancy and birth, develop coping skills and are taught relaxation and breathing techniques. Topics include stages of labor, pain medication options, cesarean birth, postpartum and infant care. A tour of the birth center is included. Fee: $60 per couple. Four-week evening series. Childbirth Preparation 1-Day Express Class Expectant parents receive information in a condensed and fast-paced format. Topics include pregnancy and birth, comfort measures, breathing and relaxation techniques, stages of labor, pain medication options and cesarean birth. A tour of the Birth Center is included. Fee: $60 per couple. Weekend class. Childbirth Preparation Online Class Expectant parents learn about pregnancy and birth, develop coping skills, and are taught relaxation and breathing techniques. Can be done from the convenience of your own home to accommodate those on bed rest. Topics include stages of labor, pain medication options, cesarean birth, postpartum and infant care. Fee: $60 per couple. Childbirth Preparation REFRESHER Class Sharpen your skills! This class updates your knowledge of labor and delivery, reviews your relaxation and breathing strategies, and focuses on how to prepare siblings for their new arrival. A tour of the birth center is included. Fee: $25 per couple. Three-hour, one evening class. Does This Baby Come with a Handbook Class This one-hour presentation discusses common questions and issues in the first month with your new baby. Also discusses care, feeding, first visits with the doctor, what to expect, when to worry, when to react and when to relax. Fee: Free. Held at AMC, Theda Clark and in Oshkosh on a regular basis. Each person must register separately. Teen Pregnancy Program Free educational series for teens. Topics include health care for mother and baby, preparation for labor and delivery, relaxation and breathing techniques, exercise, legal considerations and suggestions on how to plan for the future. No fee. Call 729-2926 to register. Breastfeeding Preparation Learn about the basics of breastfeeding, breast care, concerns in the early weeks, as well as helpful hints for the returning-to-work mom. Taught by certified lactation consultants. Fee: $25 per couple. CPR Family and Friends (Totsaver) For anyone who cares for a baby or toddler. Teaches emergency measures for choking, cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest in infants and children. Fee: $15 per person. Birth Center Tours Family Birth Center at Appleton Medical Center offers scheduled tours Mondays at noon, Thursdays at 5 p.m. and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. To register call (920)738-6546. Theda Birth Center at Theda Clark Medical Center offers scheduled tours Tuesdays at 5 p.m., Thursdays at noon and Saturdays at 11 a.m. To register call (920) 729-2080. Support Groups Mom & Me Club Network with other moms by sharing information on newborn care and changes in family dynamics. Meetings are held at Appleton Medical Center on Mondays from 1-2:30 p.m. (except weeks of major holidays). No fee. Registration is not required. |
