Birth Control/Family Planning |
Birth Control There are many types of birth control. How do you choose which is best for you? Your provider will help you decide according to:
- Physical Health
- Side Effects - Mild or Unmanageable
- Effectiveness
- Personal Preference
Whichever method of birth control you choose, be sure you know how it works, how to use it, and what side effects may occur. Even with methods that do not need a prescription, you need to learn how to use the method.
Please view the Birth Control Methods Chart for a full list of options.

Essure - Permanent Birth Control The Essure procedure is the first and only FDA approved female sterilization procedure to have zero pregnancies in the clinical trials. The Essure procedure is permanent and is NOT reversible. Therefore, you should be sure you do not want children in the future. For more information, please visit the Essure website.
*Please note - Although some of our doctors do perform the Essure procedure, not all insurance carriers cover it so please check with your insurance company first.
Family Planning Family planning benefits the health and well-being of women and families throughout the world. Using contraception can help to avoid unwanted pregnancies and space births; protect against STDs, including HIV/AIDS and provide other health benefits. It allows you to plan a pregnancy for many reasons such as financial status, career path, physical and emotional health, etc. Your provider can help you plan your family and recommend what type of birth control you should use and how long you should use it.
